Tekla Kighuradze
b. 2000, Tbilisi

Born in the year of dragons and dragon slayers. Some said the world would end in 2000.
But maybe we, who were born in 2000, changed some cycles of the universe.
Maybe we, the dragons, slayed the slayers, but we are revenge-free. That’s the difference between slayers and dragons.

Born and raised in Tbilisi, the city where out of concrete, flowers are blooming, and each dragon is that weed that grows in every corner. Surely, to survive, one can lose its purity. The difference between carnivores and us is that we can survive without harming those around us. And the only way to survive is to evolve. Evolve or repeat the cycle.

The question is, do you want to be part of the cycle which has already lasted for decades?

Or do you want to break the chain?

Once we were kids, we played one game. In this game, two groups of 10 each compete against each other. Group members join hands and form a chain. "Whose soul do you want?" - the groups will shout in turn. The summoned member must try to break the opponent's chain, otherwise, one will temporarily find oneself in the other team's chain. A team that has no participants left is lost. The souls of the original members of the losing team will not be seen again in the next game.

Evolve or repeat the cycle. Otherwise, survival is not the way of living.

I HIDE MYSELF WITHIN MY FLOWER

Project presented by artists Tekla Kighuradze and Nodo Ugulava. ‘I Hide Myself Within My Flower’ is based on the idea of adapting to foreign environments which exist around us. How some living beings manage to bloom in what one might consider, a wrong habitat.

HIDDEN SPARKS

The series presents my musings on the transitional stage in life, that of leaving childhood behind and entering adulthood. In this journey of self-revelation and maturation, childhood memories suddenly attain an extra layer of warmth and importance to them.
